Carer Interviews

The carer tool was developed from the semi structured service user tool. It followed a similar process of co production through a series of research and steering group meetings. We randomly sampled carers from the Trust’s RIO data base checking with the relevant care coordinator the best way to make contact with them. We also approached local carers’ centres for lists of appropriate participants. We then sent them a letter with an information sheet. When the researchers were comfortable and confident in the interview process they conducted each interview in pairs on NHS property. Following ethical requirements  face to face consent was also gained at this point.

We constructed a carer research pack to be carried and used by the researchers

Thirty carers were interviewed in total.
